The Institute for Contemporary Expression – DC ICE-DC announces an open photography contest, launching in partnership with FotoWeekDC. On Saturday, November 8—during the first weekend of FotoWeek—ICE-DC invites photographers and Instagrammers to tour the former Franklin School and future home of ICE at 925 13th Street NW, between I Street NW and K Street NW.Participants will take and post photographs from the interior and exterior of the historic building, capturing architectural details, nooks and crannies of the space, and characteristics of the building in its current state prior to renovation.

What Makes You A Professional Photographer?

There are quite a few hot photography debates floating around the internet. Whether it’s HDR, watermarks, Nikon vs. Canon, Mac vs. PC, straight out of the camera vs. post processing; there’s certainly no shortage. One of the newer ones I’ve seen pop up recently is this big fuss over what makes a photographer a professional. This is a debate that I feel truly does have a black and white answer and shouldn’t be a debate at all. So let me explain and then let’s see if you agree…
